Lesia A Alexander - Multidisciplinary Creative - Writer, poet, artist, and performer
Lesia A Alexander
I grew up in New York City in an immigrant bicultural, bilingual family. Museums, shows, gatherings of music, art and poetry were daily fare and deeply influenced who I became and how I navigated life. Immersed in these many faces of creativity, I have been, throughout my life, expressing myself using multiple art forms to heal and connect with a greater Spirit.
Thirteen years ago I was called to work as an interspecies communicator and animal energy healer and left my college teaching career to follow this calling. As an interspecies communicator I have appeared on podcasts, spoken nationally and internationally.
As a multidisciplinary artist my writing and art express openness and vulnerability while exploring the emotions and psychology of healing and connection with self, animals, others and nature. The intention in my work is to help others find paths to restoration and transformation. I create to cultivate awareness, compassion, and a sense of belonging on this earth and a call to action. Along with personal essays, my poetry reflects encounters with nature and social commentary on encounters with the human world.
I am a board member of the Olympia Poetry Network.
My new book What They Have to tell Us – Messages from Animals, includes a poem at the start of each animal chapter. In conjunction with this book I have created a performance art piece called Animal Poetry – Messages from Animals and have performed nationally.
My art consists of watercolor painting (including four murals), color pencil drawings, fabric art, as well as nature-based amulets and designs.
I completed a BS in Math Education from Metropolitan University of Denver and an MA in Whole Systems Design from Antioch University Seattle. I live in Lacey, Washington with my husband and three cats.

Testimonials
Animal Poetry
Animal Poetry touched me on a deep level. It brought me back to my childhood. I think kids would love it and educate their parents on caring for animals, the earth, and each other. I hope you continue in more venues.
Lesia Alexander’s reading of animal poetry is a unique experience. She manages to inhabit and bring alive these animals and their messages. It is clear that animals have a lot of help to offer us if we would only listen. I have never seen anything like it.
